Heimdall Power is doing a new proof of concept study with the R&D department of Swedish energy company Vattenfall.

We are proud to announce that Vattenfall R&D has become a new Heimdall Power customer through a proof-of-concept study focusing on Dynamic Line Rating.

As part of the project, Heimdall Power will install a couple of Neurons in a designated part of Vattenfall’s grid. The data collected will provide valuable insight about line temperatures, as Vattenfall aim to build on their existing knowledge about data-driven grid operations.

Dynamic Line Rating allows grid operators to better understand the true capacity oftheir existing power lines by using real-time data rather than relying solely on static assumptions. This can help unlock additional grid capacity, improve operational awareness and support the integration of more renewable energy into the power system.

“Vattenfall is one of the most important energy companies in Europe, and we are very pleased to begin this R&D project with them,” says Iver Endresen, Head of Business Development at Heimdall Power.
“We see strong momentum across Europe for solutions that can help grid operators increase capacity, improve visibility and accelerate the energy transition,”Endresen adds. “We are excited to work with Vattenfall R&D and look forward to sharing insights from the project."

An optimized power grid is no longer a nice to have: It’s the prerequisite to human progress.
