We are incredibly proud to share that Heimdall Power and Bayernwerk once again are taking our collaboration to the next level, as the German distribution system operator is expanding its existing Dynamic Line Rating deployment with 100 additional Heimdall Power Neurons.
The expansion follows several successful project phases between the two companies. Bayernwerk first started working with Heimdall Power in 2023 and has since scaled its use of Dynamic Line Rating on numerous occasions.
In 2025, the collaboration surpassed a total 100 Neurons, making it the largest sensor-based Dynamic Line Rating project in Germany at the time. With another 100 Neurons now being rolled out, Bayernwerk is taking a leading position in Germany when it comes to deploying Dynamic Line Rating at scale.
The Neurons provide Bayernwerk with real-time data from its overhead lines, enabling the German DSO to better understand the actual capacity of its existing infrastructure and safely utilize available capacity when conditions allow.
“Our expectations have been exceeded. We are gaining a much more accurate picture of the actual capacity of our overhead power lines, giving us greater flexibility and efficiency in grid operations. The use of the Neurons has genuine game-changing potential: the targeted analysis of sensor data enables us to significantly increase the utilization of power lines. This also helps us prioritize grid expansion measures." says Dr. Egon Leo Westphal, CEO of Bayernwerk.
For Heimdall Power, the continued expansion represents an important milestone in a collaboration that has grown significantly since the first deployment in 2023.
“Bayernwerk has been a frontrunner in adopting Dynamic Line Rating in Germany, and the fact that they continue to expand their deployment is a strong validation of both our technology and the value it can create for grid operators. This is exactly the kind of journey we want to enable, quickly moving from initial deployments to large-scale adoption across the grid. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved together so far and look forward to continuing our collaboration in the years ahead,” says Jørgen Festervoll, CEO of Heimdall Power.
This new expansion further strengthens what is the largest Dynamic Line Rating deployment in Germany, where Heimdall Power company continues to see strong growth andincreasing adoption of Dynamic Line Rating.
