Heimdall Power is proud to announce that our flagship innovation, the Neuron™, has been listed one ofTIME’s Best Inventions of 2025. This recognition underlines the impact our technology is having on the global energy transition, redefining how power grids are monitored, managed, and optimized.

Dubbed a “smartwatch for the power grid,” the Neuron provides real-time insight into the health and performance of transmission lines. By continuosly measuring line temperature, sag, current, and micro-climate conditions, the device enables utilities to operate their networks more safely, efficiently and intelligently. With these data insihgts, utilities can dynamically adjust power flows, unlock hidden capacity, reduce congestion costs, and improve reliability, all without building new infrastructure.

“This recognition from TIME underscores what we’ve believed from the start: Smarter, data-driven grid operations are essential to building a more resilient, affordable, and sustainable energy system,” said Jørgen Festervoll, CEO of Heimdall Power. “The Neuron isn’t just a piece of hardware—it’s a catalyst for maximizing the grid and powering human progress.”

As electricity demand surges and the urgency of grid modernization grows, Heimdall Power’s inclusion in TIME’s Best Inventions list highlights a critical truth: the technologies needed to transform aging energy infrastructure already exists and are delivering measurable results today.

TIME also highlighted Heimdall Power’s first large-scale U.S. deployment with Great River Energy in Minnesota. An analysis of the first year of operations found that the project increased transmission capacity by 63% at peak demand, delivering an estimated $3 million in savings. The full results are available in our whitepaper, which can be downloaded here.
