We’re very excited to announce that Heimdall Power is teaming up with the German DSOE.DIS Netz GmbH for a new Dynamic Line Rating project in Germany.

E.DIS is one of Germany’s largest regional network operators, with their operating area covering more than 35,000 square kilometers in the Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern regions. This marks Heimdall Power’s first project in the eastern part of the country.

The area is currently experiencing a significant growth in the production of renewable energy, a trend that is estimated to get even stronger in the coming years. Until 2032, E.DIS expectsthe renewable energy generation in their area to grow with almost 3x from the 2022 levels.

Based on E.DIS’ own estimates, this fast-increasing amount of renewable power will require further measures than building new transmission lines. Therefore, the company is now making its first move into Dynamic Line Rating, as it aims to make itself ready for the future loads that are poised to come to its grid over the next decades.

With the Neuron sensor units already delivered in Germany, Senior Growth Manager for Heimdall Power, Gerhard Biedenbach, commented on the new project in the following manner:

«I’m very happy to welcome E.DIS as a new Heimdall power customer. With all the additional renewable energy that is going to be generated in their area over the coming decades, Heimdall Power’s solutions have the potential to be a key enabler for an efficient energy transition in their region of operations. I would like to thank E.DIS for a very good process and look forward to a long and prosperous collaboration.»
“We are delighted to be implementing this innovative project together with Heimdall Power,” says Ronny Falkenberg, Team Leader High-Voltage Network Control Center, E.DIS Netz GmbH. “Dynamic Line Rating offers us the opportunity to use the existing infrastructure more efficiently and to better support the integration of renewable energies. With Heimdall Power’s technology, we gain valuable real-time data on the condition of our lines and can thus optimize our network utilization. This is an important step in actively advancing the energy transition in our region and, at the same time, further strengthening security of supply.”

In total, Heimdall Power now has 13 customers in Germany, including Bayernwerk, TenneT, Amprion, Westnetz and more. Like existing Heimdall Power customers Westnetz, Schleswig-Holstein Netz and Bayernwerk, E.DIS is also a part of the E.On group, one of Europe’s largest energy companies.
