Founded in 1913, Entergy is one of the largest electric utilities in North America, delivering power to approximately 3 million customers across Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. Entergy Corporation is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker ETR.
The deployment of Neurons from Heimdall Power has already been carried out using drone-based installation, allowing Neuron™ sensors to be mounted safely and efficiently on energized transmission lines without outages or disruption to customers. Despite unusually challenging winter conditions for the region, the project was executed on schedule, demonstrating how modern grid instrumentation can be deployed quickly and at scale. A separate story focused on the deployment itself will be published shortly.
Heimdall Power’s Neuron™ sensors provide real-time insight into how transmission lines are actually operating, enabling utilities to move beyond static assumptions and improve operational awareness across their networks.
“This project is a strong example of how quickly utilities can gain meaningful visibility into their grids by leveraging real-time data,” said Jørgen Festervoll, CEO of Heimdall Power. “By deploying drone-installed DLR sensors at scale, Entergy is avoiding outages while taking a pragmatic step toward more dynamic grid operations and better-informed decision-making. We’re excited to have the project up and running and look forward to a strong, long-term collaboration.”
The deployment adds to Heimdall Power’s growing portfolio of large-scale DLR projects in North America, Europe, and Asia, supporting utilities as they seek to increase utilization, resilience, and operational flexibility of their existing infrastructure.
